Senior Wound Clinic Nurse – Derbyshire
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
- Support Lead Nurses in managing caseloads effectively and efficiently.
- Support junior staff development and promote clinical excellence and quality assurance.
- Work with the Wound Clinic Lead Nurses supporting the team through changes and developments.
- Act as a champion for the wound clinic service area and attend wound care improvement groups.
- Be aware of current local and national issues influencing services.
- Facilitate, develop, evaluate and share good working practice.
- Support Wound Clinic Leads to ensure teams are informed of development and changes through regular staff meetings.
- Provide learning opportunities and experiences for team members, promoting a positive learning environment.
- Participate in service development and audit, especially evidencing wound healing rates.
- Actively support the development of a culture that is open to change and innovation.
- Provide highly specialized nursing care to individuals with complex needs.
- Support Caseload Management. Monitor standards of care, deploying and supervising team members.
- Co-ordinate the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programs reflecting individual needs.
- Plan, implement and evaluate a learning contract for student nurses.
- Be involved in the education and training of junior staff.
- Have the initiative to respond to challenging situations/behaviours.
- Help manage complaints, errors, concerns, and untoward occurrences.
- Know when to escalate clinical or operational issues to direct line manager.
- Co-ordinate the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of Care Plans that reflect the individual needs of patients.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Skills and Expertise
- Registered Nurse with a prescribing qualification (or willing to undertake)
- Wound care/vascular/dermatology experience within Band 6/experienced Band 5 role
- Established Band 6 or Band 5 with significant post-registration experience
