Senior Wound Clinic Nurse – Derbyshire

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
  • Support Lead Nurses in managing caseloads effectively and efficiently.
  • Support junior staff development and promote clinical excellence and quality assurance.
  • Work with the Wound Clinic Lead Nurses supporting the team through changes and developments.
  • Act as a champion for the wound clinic service area and attend wound care improvement groups.
  • Be aware of current local and national issues influencing services.
  • Facilitate, develop, evaluate and share good working practice.
  • Support Wound Clinic Leads to ensure teams are informed of development and changes through regular staff meetings.
  • Provide learning opportunities and experiences for team members, promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in service development and audit, especially evidencing wound healing rates.
  • Actively support the development of a culture that is open to change and innovation.
  • Provide highly specialized nursing care to individuals with complex needs.
  • Support Caseload Management. Monitor standards of care, deploying and supervising team members.
  • Co-ordinate the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programs reflecting individual needs.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate a learning contract for student nurses.
  • Be involved in the education and training of junior staff.
  • Have the initiative to respond to challenging situations/behaviours.
  • Help manage complaints, errors, concerns, and untoward occurrences.
  • Know when to escalate clinical or operational issues to direct line manager.
  • Co-ordinate the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of Care Plans that reflect the individual needs of patients.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Skills and Expertise

  • Registered Nurse with a prescribing qualification (or willing to undertake)
  • Wound care/vascular/dermatology experience within Band 6/experienced Band 5 role
  • Established Band 6 or Band 5 with significant post-registration experience
