Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist
Key Responsibilities
- Providing specialist nursing care to patients with liver disease.
- Undergoing training if this is a first Hepatology CNS role.
- Working alongside experienced practitioners to gain experience in viral hepatology clinics.
- Taking on more varied roles as competence and confidence grows.
- Working with the existing CNS team in varied roles across hospital and community settings.
- Offering nurse-led clinics in areas such as stable cirrhosis, Viral hepatitis, AILD, NAFLD, and speciality clinics.
- Treating hard-to-reach patients with hepatitis C or HBV, rarer liver disease patients.
- Providing a clinic for newly discharged decompensated patients.
- Carrying out nurse-led paracentesis.
- Engaging key stakeholders and supporting the nursing team in delivering specialist hepatology nursing across secondary and primary care.
- Working with others nationally on new nursing projects.
