Key Responsibilities

  • Safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of the College community.
  • Conducting thorough inspections and accident investigations.
  • Carrying out fire alarm tests and lockdown drills.
  • Performing risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Promoting best practices across the College.
  • Compiling clear safety reports.
  • Working closely with colleagues across all levels.
  • Providing expert advice and practical training.
  • Delivering personalised risk assessments.
  • Acting as a go-to person for health and safety guidance.
  • Assisting with the Colleges risk management system.
  • Assisting departments in implementing procedures.
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing of safety supplies.
  • Maintaining and updating systems and procedures.
  • Overseeing fire safety procedures.
  • Delivering training sessions.
  • Contributing to business continuity planning and disaster recovery efforts.
  • Monitoring stress risk assessments.
  • Supporting staff well-being.
  • Participating in the implementation of quality systems related to health and safety.

Skills and Expertise

  • Experience in accident investigations and inspections.
  • Thorough understanding of risk assessment processes.
  • Ability to implement effective safety procedures.
  • Solid knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and health and safety databases.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Relevant Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
