Key Responsibilities
- Safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of the College community.
- Conducting thorough inspections and accident investigations.
- Carrying out fire alarm tests and lockdown drills.
- Performing risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Promoting best practices across the College.
- Compiling clear safety reports.
- Working closely with colleagues across all levels.
- Providing expert advice and practical training.
- Delivering personalised risk assessments.
- Acting as a go-to person for health and safety guidance.
- Assisting with the Colleges risk management system.
- Assisting departments in implementing procedures.
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing of safety supplies.
- Maintaining and updating systems and procedures.
- Overseeing fire safety procedures.
- Delivering training sessions.
- Contributing to business continuity planning and disaster recovery efforts.
- Monitoring stress risk assessments.
- Supporting staff well-being.
- Participating in the implementation of quality systems related to health and safety.
Skills and Expertise
- Experience in accident investigations and inspections.
- Thorough understanding of risk assessment processes.
- Ability to implement effective safety procedures.
- Solid knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and health and safety databases.
- Strong communication skills.
- Organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Relevant Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
