Key Responsibilities

  • Advising partners on repair and alteration proposals for heritage assets.
  • Guiding on changes to historic townscapes and landscapes.
  • Delivering projects for the conservation of national heritage.
  • Improving people’s lives through heritage conservation.
  • Regular travel to sites (not serviced by public transport).
  • Potential site visits requiring climbing scaffolding and navigating confined spaces.
  • Occasional attendance at community meetings (evenings/weekends).

Skills and Expertise

  • Professional qualification in architecture or building surveying.
  • ARB registration or chartered RICS membership.
  • Accreditation in building conservation (AABC, RIBA(SCA level) or RICS, or working towards).
  • Extensive experience in historic building repair and project management.
  • Knowledge of English secular and ecclesiastical architecture.
  • Understanding of historic building construction and conservation practice.
  • Proficiency in repair, alteration, and adaptation of historic buildings.
  • Practical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of construction industry regulations related to historic buildings.
