Nursing Housekeeper
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring the ward is adequately stocked with essential items for patient care, troubleshooting supply issues.
- Assisting with cleaning and organizing the ward environment, including storage areas, sluices, clinical rooms, and corridors.
- Participating in ward environment audits and inventories, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Maintaining and tracking essential ward equipment, ensuring it is charged, clean, and ready for use.
- Keeping a log of equipment repairs, loans, and returns.
- Assisting with lost property on the ward and reconciling items to patients.
- Maintaining organized storage areas for dietary supplies and specialized equipment.
- Auditing, escalating, and resolving issues with fixtures, furniture, and fittings.
- Assisting patients with inquiries and tasks, such as retrieving newspapers.
- Assisting with patient satisfaction surveys.
- Assisting with administrative tasks, such as laminating and updating ward information boards.
- Completing other tasks as assigned by ward staff.
- Ensuring all supplies needed for services are available, anticipating potential spikes in demand.
- Communicating and reporting supply concerns to the Ward Manager or Matron, working on potential solutions.
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained and fit for use, reporting any issues to the Ward Manager/Matron and ordering new equipment when authorized.
- Leading the development and input of information for equipment logs, organizing annual servicing and liaising with relevant parties.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the ward environment.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication with staff.
- Providing accurate and effective written documentation.
- Participating in audits of the ward environment and taking necessary actions.
- Troubleshooting issues identified through monthly audits of the environment.
- Assisting with lost property and reconciliation.
- Maintaining organized storage areas for various supplies.
- Keeping all ward areas (corridors, storage, clinical rooms, IV rooms, sluices) clean, tidy, and clutter-free.
- Collaborating with domestic and nursing teams for cleanliness and organization.
- Responding to any issues with ward fixtures or fittings (e.g., broken chairs).
- Assisting patients with requests and administrative tasks.
- Contributing to ward information boards, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Performing other duties as deemed appropriate by ward staff.
