Teaching Assistant
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles.
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing specialised education plans and strategies designed to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
- Collaborate closely with SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and other members of the school staff to develop and implement personalised learning goals and interventions.
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and caregivers as necessary.
- Assist with the implementation of sensory integration techniques and other therapeutic interventions as required.
Skills and Expertise
- Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs, preferably within a school setting.
- Passion for supporting the academic and social development of students with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and caregivers.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when faced with challenging situations.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (advantageous but not essential).
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
