Key Responsibilities

  • Administering first aid and supporting unwell students during lessons.
  • Ensuring sufficient first aid coverage by arranging and communicating a rota.
  • Assisting the Health & Safety Officer with medical room compliance, including controlled drugs and emergency storage.
  • Assisting with student medication administration.
  • Maintaining logs of first aid incidents, medication, and medical conditions using Medical Tracker and other records.
  • Supporting the Health & Safety Officer with data analysis and reporting on Medical Tracker, suggesting improvement solutions.
  • Coordinating communication with parents/carers regarding first aid events.
  • Maintaining high standards of clinical procedures.
  • Liaising with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and parents/carers to meet student health needs.
  • Ensuring sufficient and suitable first aid consumables and equipment.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all medical information.
  • Ensuring up-to-date clinical and professional practice.
  • Alerting appropriate staff to student problems and recommending solutions.

Skills and Expertise

  • Good standard of education, including English and Mathematics GCSE or equivalent.
  • Awareness of current public health services.
  • Awareness of current developments in school.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software.
  • Understanding of infection control.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Understanding of social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Minimum of three years administration experience.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Experience in organizing and managing student support.
  • Experience in organizing and managing training for staff members and managing logs.
  • Experience using spreadsheets.
  • Experience analysing accident reporting log data and first aid logs for trends.
  • Experience creating action plans to minimize accidents and first aid visits.
  • Experience working with professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
