Solution Architect – Greater Manchester

Key Responsibilities

  • Defining high-level technical architecture and design for assigned scope, delivering business outcomes aligned with longer-term strategy.
  • Defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision for end-to-end designs, potentially spanning multiple platforms and domains.
  • Influencing and promoting collaboration across platform and domain teams on solution delivery.
  • Elaborating solutions and their interfaces, validating technology assumptions, evaluating implementation alternatives, and creating continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Providing analysis of options and delivering end-to-end solution designs using relevant building blocks.
  • Producing designs for features enabling frequent incremental delivery of customer value.
  • Owning technical design issues, driving resolution through iterative technical solution design.
  • Participating in activities shaping requirements, validating designs and prototypes for change alignment with the target architecture.
  • Promoting adaptive design practices to drive collaboration of feature teams around a common technical vision using continuous feedback.
  • Recommending potential impacts to existing and prospective customers regarding latest technology and customer trends.

Skills and Expertise

  • Expert knowledge of application architecture and business data or infrastructure architecture.
  • Working knowledge of industry architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or ArchiMate.
  • Understanding of Agile and contemporary methodologies, with experience in Agile teams.
  • Experience defining application architectures and roadmaps for complex solutions across all layers of the technical architecture.
  • Background in delivering solutions securely spanning a complex infrastructure domain.
  • Experience with systems development change lifecycles, best practices, and designing solutions on public cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, applications, systems engineering, cloud, event streaming, microservices, and APIs.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to peers and leadership.
