Social Worker – Older Adults

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking assessments and possibly MCA and BI work.
  • Supporting older people and their carers.
  • Identifying and managing risks.
  • Complex casework.
  • Care management across health and social care settings.

Skills and Expertise

  • Experience with older people and their carers (12+ months post-qualifying).
  • Assessment of need.
  • Complex casework experience.
  • Care management experience.
  • Understanding of older adult needs and carer support.
  • Safeguarding knowledge.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice.
  • Mental Capacity Act knowledge and implementation.
  • Appropriate social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • CCW/CQC registration.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Good IT skills.
  • Organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Partnership building skills.
  • Crisis management and conflict resolution.
  • Managing challenging behaviours.
