Physiotherapist – Critical Care/Respiratory/Surgical Rotational Role – Liverpool

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment and treatment for complex patients with respiratory and rehabilitation needs.
  • Design and deliver training and development of junior staff to develop clinical skills, including on-call competency (lead role expected).
  • Support a busy team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants, and Assistant Practitioners alongside team leaders.
  • Organize and contribute to in-service training programs for staff and students, and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Support with data collection and performance monitoring of clinical areas, identifying areas needing development.
  • Provide supervision, support, and appraisal to bands 5-3.
  • Provide supervision and support to undergraduate students from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Northwest.
  • Work flexibly to meet service demands over a seven-day service, including participation in on-call rota as required.
  • Undertake physiotherapy assessment, clinically diagnose, and implement treatment plans, evaluating care delivery based on patient needs (routine and complex).
  • Advise, assist, and educate staff-grade and student physiotherapists in patient management.
  • Ensure effective communication with patients, carers, and other health and social care professionals.
  • Participate in departmental planned out-of-hours working and emergency on-call rota.
  • Represent Physiotherapy service at multidisciplinary meetings to ensure coordinated care.
  • Attend relevant ward rounds and clinics, working with the MDT to assess, advise, and treat patients as needed.
