Senior Patient Administrator – Outpatients Department
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Team Leader in all aspects of staff management, including prioritising workload, supervision, sickness, performance, and appraisal.
- Ensure timely, polite, professional, and confidential handling of all enquiries, taking appropriate action or escalation.
- Proactively manage patient pathways for high-quality service delivery.
- Use initiative in resolving patient problems and handling requests from managers and consultants.
- Participate in new staff induction, demonstrate duties to new starters, and provide close supervision.
- Develop new team members through training and supervision.
- Adhere to trust-wide standard operating procedures and policies, participate in their development, and suggest improvements to systems with measurable effectiveness.
- Support the Team Leader in overseeing reception services, ensuring adequate cover and a welcoming service for patients.
Skills and Expertise
- Excellent communication skills for delivering high-standard customer service to patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and autonomously.
- Proactive and calm approach with multitasking abilities.
- Thoroughness and efficiency in administrative tasks.
- Knowledge of Cerner (essential).
