About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join our Power Transmission & Distribution business. The candidate will primarily be focussed on estimating for projects associated with Multi-Utility works covering Power, Gas, Water and Telecoms projects, for end clients such as HS2 and National Highways.

What you’ll be doing

  • To have strategic responsibility for the Multi-Utility estimating function which includes Bid Management and Estimating duties.
  • To lead Multi-Utility estimating team in producing competitive, thorough, well researched bids and estimates.
  • To oversee the parts of the gated business lifecycle that relate to work winning (stages 1-4).
  • To support Business Development with client management, engagement and developing work winning opportunities.
  • To identify and implement procedural changes to Bid Management and Estimating process and systems.
  • To liaise with other Enabling functions such as Business Development, Engineering, Planning, Operations, Commercial etc.
  • To ensure Balfour Beatty’s Code of Conduct is thoroughly understood, adhered to and promoted across the business to ensure safe, compliant and consistent working practices.
  • To ensure collaboration and proactively contribute to teamwork and cross-functional working.

Who we’re looking for

  • Management experience in similar estimating and tender management role.
  • Ability to develop a scope of work capable of being priced from limited information.
  • Good financial acumen with an ability to analyse data accurately.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn & progress.
  • Team Player.
  • Work unsociable hours, when required.
  • Proficient in general IT applications e.g. Excel, and standard estimating software e.g. CANDY.
