Senior Care Assistant – Nights

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing the highest possible levels of care in supporting and assisting residents in all aspects of daily living.
  • Promoting resident independence with a focus on choice, dignity, and respect, alongside promoting physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Leading shift to ensure high standards are maintained and team members feel supported.
  • Completing daily medication rounds and documenting consistently without errors.
  • Ensuring daily charts are completed to a high standard.
  • Promoting good practice and challenging poor practice.
  • Conducting one-to-ones for care and support team members.
  • Investigating complaints and concerns.

Skills and Expertise

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., Registered Nurse or NVQ level 3 minimum).
  • Minimum of two years experience as a Care Assistant in a residential/nursing home setting.
  • Awareness of Person-Centred Care Planning principles.
  • Understanding of abuse prevention, recognition of abuse signs, and procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Caring and nurturing attitude.
  • Positive and enthusiastic outlook.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Prepared to take on extra training.
  • Experience in a similar role in a nursing home (preferred).
  • Experience caring for residents with dementia (preferred).
  • NVQ Level 4 in Adult Health and Social Care or above (preferred).
  • Knowledge of National Care Standards Act 2000 (preferred).
  • Experience managing a team (preferred).
