Senior Administrator – Tameside

Key Responsibilities

  • Thorough knowledge of service procedures and protocols.
  • Management of reception team rotas to ensure patient demand is met.
  • Support to management team with chronic disease recall, patient registers, and cytology/immunisation administration.
  • Summarising patient notes following training.
  • Receiving and initiating calls for appropriate patient queries.
  • Undertaking other administrative tasks as directed by the practice manager.
  • Liaising and arranging meetings, attending meetings and taking minutes.
  • Adherence to Data Protection Act requirements.
  • Assisting with statistical and informational gathering.
  • Reception duties including training other staff.
  • Acting as a chaperone for examinations (following training).
  • Dealing with general enquiries and explaining procedures.
  • Undertaking reception cover during staff absence.
  • Opening and closing premises, securing building, and managing alarm system.
  • Maintaining reception area tidiness.

Skills and Expertise

  • Strong administrative skills
  • Knowledge of reception procedures
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer literacy (likely required for patient records, scheduling)
  • Data Protection Act awareness

Personal/Professional Development

  • Participation in practice and GTD Healthcare training.
  • Annual performance review (appraisal).
  • Maintaining record of own development activity.
  • Following objectives set at appraisal.
  • Attendance at training events, induction training, and mandatory updates.
  • Supporting new staff induction and training.

Quality

  • Alerting team members to quality and risk issues.
  • Assessing own performance and taking accountability.
  • Contributing to team effectiveness by reflecting on activities and suggesting improvements.
  • Working effectively with individuals in other agencies.
  • Effective management of own time, workload, and resources.

Other Duties

  • Other duties as agreed with line manager.
  • Potential travel to other sites within the organisation.
