SENDCo Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the School Leadership Team to enhance existing SEND provision, ensuring a stable service for students.
  • Lead the SEND provision and play a critical role in enabling high-quality education for vulnerable students.
  • Develop learning and behavior strategies, manage legal responsibilities.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, governors, parents, and external professionals to meet student needs.

Skills and Expertise

  • Inspirational and dynamic leadership.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to instill a positive ethos.
  • Compelling personal presence, emotional intelligence, and commitment to CPD.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated, confident in identifying and implementing change.
  • National award in Special Education Needs, or commitment to achieving it within 3 years.
