Individual Needs Assistant – East Sussex
Key Responsibilities
- Working one-on-one with pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
- Providing additional support to foster academic and social progress.
- Collaborating with the class teacher to prepare and plan customized lessons.
- Tailoring lessons to the pupils unique needs and interests.
- Assessing, monitoring, and providing constructive feedback to pupils.
- Offering encouragement and motivation to pupils.
- Participating in classroom and extracurricular activities.
- Accompanying pupils on educational visits.
- Facilitating pupil participation and integration with peers.
- Ensuring pupils comprehend both verbal and written instructions.
- Guiding pupils to stay on track with tasks.
- Promoting inclusivity and a sense of belonging in the classroom.
Skills and Expertise
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to quickly build rapport with pupils.
- Team player, working closely with classroom teachers and Learning support assistants.
- Highly organised, creative, and adaptive.
- Ability to think on your feet to help pupils overcome learning barriers.
