SEN Tutor

ASEND Ltd

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Thurrock. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.

About the role

We are looking for a tutor to support an 8 year-old-boy in Thurrock. Our pupil has faced a difficult childhood and struggled with forming relationships. This has impacted his ability to regulate emotions and some of his verbal communication. Despite these challenges, our pupil has remained energetic and cheerful and has made great progress in developing his interests and engaging in activities he likes. Some of these include cooking, reading and staying active by playing football outdoors. He also enjoys music-related activities such as dancing and singing and has also developed an excellent memory over the years.

The ideal tutor for this young person would be someone who has a good understanding of trauma in early childhood and how this could impact emotional regulation and other aspects of behaviour. Empathy and sensitivity are also key qualities we would look for, as our pupil has been through difficult times, so they would need a more sensitive approach where the tutor is able to create a safe environment for our pupil to feel comfortable in. Someone who has experience using a Positive Behaviour approach would also be essential.
