1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 4

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with ASD, ensuring academic, social, and emotional needs are met.
  • Implement personalised learning strategies in line with the pupil’s IEP.
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in managing behaviour, promoting focus and engagement in classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure consistency in support.

Skills and Expertise

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly those with ASD.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to respond to the pupil’s evolving needs.
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and strategies to support learning and development.
