SEN Teaching Assistant – London

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their learning and development.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
  • Offer one-to-one support to students with SEN in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Facilitate participation of students with SEN in classroom activities and social interactions.
  • Monitor and record progress of students with SEN.
  • Assist in creating learning materials tailored to individual student needs.
  • Support students with SEN during educational outings and extracurricular activities.

Skills and Expertise

  • Experience working with children or individuals with SEN
  • Understanding of SEN strategies and interventions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Patience, empathy, and passion for supporting students with SEN
  • Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Prior experience working in a school or educational setting with individuals with SEN
  • Familiarity with different types of SEN and associated support strategies
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively
  • Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 3)
  • First Aid certification
