SEN Teaching Assistant – London
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their learning and development.
- Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
- Offer one-to-one support to students with SEN in the classroom.
- Collaborate with teachers to create inclusive learning environments.
- Facilitate participation of students with SEN in classroom activities and social interactions.
- Monitor and record progress of students with SEN.
- Assist in creating learning materials tailored to individual student needs.
- Support students with SEN during educational outings and extracurricular activities.
Skills and Expertise
- Experience working with children or individuals with SEN
- Understanding of SEN strategies and interventions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Patience, empathy, and passion for supporting students with SEN
- Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Prior experience working in a school or educational setting with individuals with SEN
- Familiarity with different types of SEN and associated support strategies
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively
- Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 3)
- First Aid certification
