Second Chef – Care UK
Key Responsibilities
- Helping the Head Chef ensure food preparation meets standards and deadlines.
- Taking control of the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Using modern equipment and fresh produce to develop nutritious meals for residents.
- Consulting with residents to tailor menus to their dietary needs.
- Preparing food according to specific diets.
- Contributing to menu development.
- Maintaining kitchen team discipline and morale.
Skills and Expertise
- Catering Diploma (City & Guilds/BTEC) and NVQ 2/3 in practical cookery.
- Health and Safety certifications.
- Food Hygiene Certificates (minimum level 2).
- Knowledge of nutritionally balanced menu planning.
- Ability to cater for specific dietary needs.
- Experience in stock control and budget management (preferred).
- Experience in care homes (preferred).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
