Science Teacher – Rainhill High School

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching KS3 and KS4 Science, preferably with a focus on Chemistry.
  • Inspiring and engaging pupils through strong subject knowledge.
  • Maintaining and improving pupil performance in popular Science subjects.
  • Collaboration and teamwork with colleagues.
  • Demonstrating high levels of personal motivation and ambition.
  • Developing students love of learning in science.
  • Meeting the standards and expectations of the school.
  • Following the KS3 and GCSE Science syllabus, and the A Level syllabi in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Experience in raising achievement and securing improvements.
  • Articulating a vision for learning.

Skills and Expertise

  • Good Degree or equivalent in relevant subject area
  • PGCE in relevant subject area
  • QTS/QTLS
  • Evidence of further professional development at Masters level.
  • Relevant, recent experience of working in an 11-16 or 11-18 school
  • Experience of teaching across the ability spectrum
  • Enthusiasm and ability to motivate and inspire students and staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to equity in provision for students
  • Ability to enthuse, inspire and motivate students, staff, and parents
  • Willingness to get involved in the wider life of the school
  • Ability and experience of teaching Science and Chemistry to GCSE
  • Ability or experience of teaching Science subjects to A level
  • Evidence of excellent teaching at least Good judgments
  • Evidence of Outstanding practice
  • Evidence of all the Teaching Standards in routine practice
  • Evidence of inclusive practice
  • Evidence of substantial contribution to extra-curricular activities
  • Ability to understand and demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity
