Key Responsibilities
- Implement and deliver a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum for students.
- Monitor and support student progress and development.
- Facilitate a learning experience enabling students to achieve potential.
- Contribute to raising student attainment.
- Support the academy’s responsibility for personal and academic growth.
- Operational and strategic planning (lesson planning, resources, syllabuses, departmental plan).
- Curriculum planning.
- Staff development (CPD and Performance Management Review).
- Quality assurance (monitoring and evaluating the subject area).
- Management of information (records and student progress).
- Communications with students, parents, and stakeholders.
- Pastoral system (form tutor).
- High-quality teaching to ensure a positive learning experience.
Skills and Expertise
- QTS (or equivalent) and relevant undergraduate degree.
- Successful secondary teaching experience (including practice).
- Experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and 11-18 schools (preferred).
- Understanding of effective teaching and learning theory.
- High expectations and equality of access for all students.
- Tutoring experience.
- Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4.
- Lesson planning, resource development, and student assessment skills.
- Teamwork and positive relationship building with all staff.
- Strong ICT skills, including interactive whiteboards (preferred).
- Motivating and creating a safe learning environment.
- Positive communication with parents, carers, and external agencies.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- Effective time management and leadership.
- Motivating students and raising aspirations.
