Residential Support Worker
Key Responsibilities
- Providing emotional and social support to children and young people.
- Enhancing self-esteem and respect for children and young people.
- Promoting positive life choices and independence.
- Accurate and detailed recording of events, observations, progress, child protection matters, and health and safety checks.
- Care planning and assessment, collaborating with managers and professionals.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with social workers, therapists, teachers, and others.
- Involvement with families (supervised contacts).
- Daily living support and assistance.
- Domestic duties (planning, shopping, preparing meals).
- Proactive approach to ensure high-quality care standards.
Skills and Expertise
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Residential Child Care (preferred) or willingness to enrol on Level 4.
- Previous experience with children in a similar residential care role (not essential).
- Ability to work 24-hour shifts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and understanding approach.
- Strong record-keeping and organisational abilities.
- Dedication to promoting children and young people’s welfare and development.
