Product Design Lead – London

Key Responsibilities

  • Create an environment for great business and customer outcomes by establishing and championing product design excellence.
  • Drive service design agenda of best practices, standards, and processes across digital product design to increase efficiency and business/customer value.
  • Make an impact by pioneering new research techniques and products that meet the needs of both the business and customers.
  • Coordinate across multiple federated Human-Centred Design (HCD) teams.
  • Run communities of practice to drive design specialisms.
  • Establish standards and processes to increase quality and ensure human-centred thinking across customer journeys and experiences.
  • Ensure product design is part of the design-making process to lead to better business and customer outcomes.
  • Own and champion the best possible solutions, principles, and processes.
  • Lead complex strategic initiatives by employing best practice design methods.
  • Map out entire design systems from scratch and collaborate with stakeholders and the wider team.
  • Commission and manage research and testing activities using various techniques and tools.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement that aligns with user feedback, performance data, and evolving best practices.
  • Motivate teams in the ongoing progression of their craft.
  • Identify new ways to develop team skills to keep up with marketplace, industry and technology trends.

Skills and Expertise

  • Significant experience of leading high-performance product design teams.
  • Industry-leading knowledge of designs, insights, key trends, and customer demands.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, coupled with the ability to influence and persuade beyond immediate reports and challenge conventional thinking.
  • Experience of collaborating with a diverse set of colleagues and partners.
  • Good communication skills and an understanding of how to influence at all levels.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations based on customer insights and strategies.
