Probation Services Officer – Lincolnshire

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake full range of work with probationers before and after sentence, including assessment, sentence implementation, offender management, and report production.
  • Provide case management support to probationers using service procedures and practice directions.
  • Liaise with criminal courts, agencies, and partner agencies.
  • Supervise and manage risk of probationers subject to community sentences.
  • Work with other agencies to prevent crime and meet victim and offender needs.
  • Adhere to PS policies and procedures, demonstrating commitment to equality and inclusion.
  • Handle sensitive/confidential information.
  • Undertake offender management tasks for low/medium-risk offenders and support Probation Officer grade in high-risk cases.
  • Contribute to Risk Management plan delivery and report changes related to risk, reoffending, or non-compliance.
  • Use computer systems for record and document production/updates.
  • Ensure effective referrals and communication with offender management, intervention staff, service providers, and external agencies.
  • Undertake prison, home, or alternate visits.
  • Work in court setting, including completing reports and prosecuting breaches.
  • Provide cover within teams as required.
  • Deliver and co-lead accredited programmes.
  • Conduct mandatory alcohol and drug tests and follow medication procedures.
  • Carry out safeguarding children duties.
  • Demonstrate pro-social skills and challenge anti-social behaviour.
  • Work within PS and HMPPS aims and values.
  • Accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level.
  • Fulfil spoken aspects of the role in English/Welsh (if specified).
