Prison Pre-Release Worker
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake resettlement-focused offender management tasks for low to medium-risk cases, maintaining and updating systems.
- Understand and comply with national and local policies.
- Support probation officers with case management of high-risk residents, as needed.
- Support and liaise with Prison/Community Offender Managers.
- Participate in relevant prison processes to safeguard prisoner welfare and reduce violence/bullying.
- Interview residents within specified timelines, updating case management notes on PNOMIS or relevant IT systems.
- Use the Offender Assessment System (OASys) to identify individual needs and ensure referrals highlight those needs.
- Obtain further information from external agencies to complete comprehensive referrals.
Skills and Expertise
- 5 GCSEs at A*-C grade or equivalent
- Ability to build professional, pro-social relationships with prisoners, staff, and partner agencies.
- Ability to critically evaluate information, assess needs, recognize risks, write reports, and make appropriate referrals.
- Knowledge of the 9 Pathways to Reducing Re-offending (for women).
- Non-judgmental understanding of the experiences and social problems affecting women in custody and their resettlement needs.
- Ability to handle aggressive/abusive behavior professionally.
- Strong organizational skills, including prioritization, meeting deadlines, and maintaining high standards.
