Policy Advisor – US Sub-Federal Trade
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting briefings for ministers to support meetings with key stakeholders, including US counterparts.
- Reviewing the UKs approach to US trade policy, ensuring alignment with UK Trade and Industrial Strategies.
- Horizon scanning for emerging US policies, trends, and opportunities.
- Planning and delivering impactful activity to grow bilateral trade through MoUs with US states.
- Planning ministerial visits, collaborating with colleagues at Post and the central Visits team.
- Developing effective communications assets, including public messaging, in collaboration with Communications teams.
- Supporting relationships with Devolved Governments and Crown Dependencies.
- Working with local government, including Metro Mayors, to support their US trade objectives.
- Supporting the governance of the state-level trade agenda and engagement with partner Government departments.
- Supporting the wider work of the US team as required.
Skills and Expertise
- Proven experience in trade and international affairs.
- Ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of US sub-federal trade dynamics.
- Experience with developing and implementing trade strategies.
- Understanding of trade policy and international relations.
