PE Teacher – East Riding of Yorkshire
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out professional teaching duties as required, following academy policies, under the Principal’s direction.
- Promoting high standards through effective PE teaching and learning, including lesson preparation, evaluation, and action planning.
- Modeling the academy’s vision and values.
- Contributing to the academy’s ongoing development to maintain an ‘outstanding’ status.
- Responding to feedback to improve personal performance within academy systems.
- Contributing to policy implementation and promoting collective responsibility for policy.
- Considering and reviewing academy contextual factors and prior attainment when planning and delivering lessons.
- Collaborating across the curriculum to support PE through active learning approaches to enhance curriculum delivery.
- Recognizing, promoting, and celebrating diversity.
Skills and Expertise
- Good degree in a relevant PE-related discipline (A/C).
- Teaching qualification with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) (A/C).
- Strong subject knowledge in PE up to GCSE level (A/I).
- Recent and relevant teaching experience (A/I/R).
- Experience in assessment at key stages 3 and 4 (A/I/R).
- Understanding of strategies for improving student learning and achievement (A/I).
- Knowledge of curriculum developments in PE (A/I).
- Ability to use various teaching and learning strategies (A/I).
- Understanding of how assessment for learning improves student performance (A/I).
- Proficiency in standard computer packages for enhancing student learning (A/I).
- Using student data to raise standards (A/I).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively (A/I).
- Enthusiasm for PE (A/I).
- Creative problem-solving skills and willingness to try new approaches (A/I).
- Relating to students in a pleasant and supportive manner, recognizing potential safeguarding issues (A/I/R).
- Effective oral and written communication with students and parents (A/I/R).
- Setting high expectations for all students (A/I/R).
- Willingness to share best practices within and beyond the department (A/I/R).
- (Desirable) Strong ICT skills including SMART board or Promethean use (A/I/R).
