Key Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the strategic vision of the payroll department.
  • Manages workflows and ensures all payroll transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Lead and guide the Payroll Team to ensure accurate and timely employee payments.
  • Drive digital change by introducing new systems to streamline the payroll process.
  • Take ownership of the payroll function to ensure efficiency, streamlining, automation, and meeting colleague needs for confidence in pay.
  • Work closely with HR and Finance teams, as well as Senior Management.
  • Lead by example, providing personal development and coaching to team members.
  • Be agile and open-minded in approaching new challenges, seeking opportunities to enhance project delivery through new technology.
  • Participate in projects relating to the development of the integrated Payroll-HR-Finance database.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates (new hires, terminations, pay rate changes).

Skills and Expertise

  • Prior experience working as a Head of Payroll.
  • Excellent knowledge of pay-related legislation.
  • Experience with Mitrefinch Flexipay Payroll system (One Advanced).
  • Experience managing multi-site operations, salaried and hourly paid teams.
  • Strong ability to manage workflows and ensure timely processing of transactions.
  • Drive and enthusiasm for change and process improvement.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and understanding with employees regarding pay procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of complex payroll cycles and rules.
  • Proven track record of building internal and external relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation and influencing.
  • Problem-solving abilities in diverse teams.
  • Payroll technical knowledge and insights in a fast-paced environment.
  • (Ideally) Payroll qualification.

Job Facilities/Benefits

  • Salary: Up to 80k per annum
  • 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday
  • 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
