Paediatric Emergency Medicine Doctor (ST1-3)

Key Responsibilities

• Providing safe and effective clinical care to children under supervision, adhering to departmental and trust guidelines and evidence.
• Assisting with ongoing care for children on CDU, including home discharge and escalation if necessary.
• Participating in resuscitation and stabilisation of critically injured or ill children.
• Performing minor orthopaedic procedures and suturing.
• Ensuring proper safety measures and signposting for patient discharge.
• Maintaining effective communication with nursing staff, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals (GPs, midwives, school nurses).
• Using electronic systems for patient records, ordering, results, and communication (discharge letters).
• Addressing and communicating all safeguarding concerns.
• Developing and honing skills in emergency department prioritisation, safety, flow, and efficient working.
• Adhering to trust and department rules and professional behaviours.
• Completing a quality improvement project or audit.
