Orthopaedic Plaster Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Apply, adjust, and remove casts, following agreed protocols.
- Identify and address potential casting problems, record any adverse incidents/events in the DATIX system.
- Document all clinical treatment and interventions in the patients Electronic Patient Record (EPR).
- Assist in theatre with splinting, casting, and brace application.
- Provide wound care and suture removal.
- Prepare and clean treatment areas.
- Maintain order in cupboards and storerooms.
- Fit simple orthotics as directed.
- Conduct clinics in the plaster room, involving consultants, registrars, podiatrists, and orthotists.
Skills and Expertise
- Experience as an Orthopaedic Plaster Technician or Casting Technician.
- Hold a British Casting Certificate.
- Ability to learn and apply new techniques.
- Strong understanding of emergency procedures.
- Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
