Nursery Teacher/Practitioner – East Sussex

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality teaching and care for children aged 2-5, with a specific focus on 2-year-olds.
  • Write and maintain reports, including IPR 2-Year Progress Checks, ensuring accurate and meaningful observations of childrens development.
  • Contribute to policy writing and the implementation of best practices to drive improvement in our nursery provision.
  • Have experience and good knowledge of teaching phonics in EYFS (ideally Read, Write Inc).
  • Create a welcoming, stimulating, and safe environment that meets the diverse needs of all children.
  • Support the development of a growing nursery, implementing innovative ideas to enhance our setting.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
  • Shadow the current supervisor ahead of your start date to ensure a seamless transition.

Skills and Expertise

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Years Professional Status (EYPS)
  • Proven experience in an EYFS setting, with specific knowledge of working with 2-year-olds
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and safeguarding requirements
  • Experience writing reports, including IPR 2-Year Checks
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging learning environments and contribute to policy development
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive approach to teamwork
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player
  • Energy and creativity to make learning experiences engaging
  • High aspirations for themselves and the children
  • Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing
  • Good organisational, planning and follow-through skills
  • Motivation and a willingness to learn
