Nursery Assistant

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily nursery activities, including play, learning, and mealtimes.
  • Assist in planning and delivering activities promoting children’s development (physical, emotional, social, intellectual).
  • Ensure children’s health, safety, and well-being.
  • Foster positive relationships, encouraging children’s confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate with staff to maintain a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Assist with nursery preparation and tidying, ensuring cleanliness and organisation.
  • Observe and monitor children’s progress, contributing to records and reports.
  • Communicate with parents, providing updates on child development and well-being.

Skills and Expertise

  • Experience working with young children in a nursery or early years setting (preferred).
  • Caring, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting child development.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of the EYFS framework (advantageous).
  • Relevant childcare qualifications (NVQ Level 2 or 3 – beneficial, not essential).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare.
