Midwife – Guernsey
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the woman’s advocate, promoting and delivering high-quality midwifery care, adhering to policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Develop flexible, high-quality individual care models.
- Assess woman’s physical, psychological, and spiritual needs, and plan, implement, and evaluate midwifery care involving the woman and her family.
- Write accurate, legible, concise, and contemporaneous reports, records, and care plans (including electronic data storage).
- Monitor woman’s condition, interpret observations, and identify deviations from normal.
- Report and refer to relevant health professionals, carrying out midwifery interventions as needed.
- Keep woman and her family informed, maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensure midwifery care meets diverse needs.
- Comply with HSC Guernsey’s medicine management policy.
- Undertake clinical skills relevant to the role and woman’s care.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team and service providers to ensure effective and efficient woman-centered care.
- Examine and observe the neonate, interpreting observations, and identifying deviations from normal.
- Deliver and evaluate formal parenting preparation programmes.
- Incorporate health education into the woman’s care.
- Identify and manage at-risk families, devising care plans in conjunction with other professionals.
- Attend multiagency meetings, develop close working relationships, and participate in safeguarding practices.
- Monitor families’ compliance with child protection plans and write reports.
- Engage with women and families in avoiding and resolving complaints.
