Mental Health Nurse (Band 5) – Pennine Care NHS
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support plans for patients based on their specific diagnosis.
- Arrange ongoing, long-term support for patients’ post-care.
- Build trusting relationships with patients, offering advice and reassurance.
- Collaborate with doctors, therapists, psychiatrists, and social workers to develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Advise relatives and carers on patient conditions, treatment, and progress.
- Keep medical records up to date.
- Conduct standard physical health checks and administer medications.
- Discuss available therapies, support networks, and social activities to improve mental health and wellbeing.
- Manage workloads and shift patterns.
- Promote mental health initiatives and reduce stigma associated with mental health.
- Stay updated with mental health best practices and theories.
Skills and Expertise
- NMC Registration
- At least 2 years post-graduate experience
- 6 months recent NHS experience within the last 3 years
- Ability to pass an enhanced background check
- Experience in Mental Health Nursing
- Knowledge of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, eating disorders, paranoia, psychosis, and schizophrenia
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
