Medical Oncologist Consultant – Head and Neck, Thyroid & Skin Cancers
Key Responsibilities
- Management of patients with Head and Neck, Thyroid and Skin cancers receiving standard therapy, including treatment decisions and ongoing care.
- Participation in all relevant aspects of clinical governance, maintaining up-to-date protocols, guidelines, and clinical audit.
- Contribution to current research projects and establishment of new opportunities to expand and develop research within the team.
- Revision and development of evidence-based protocols for patients and undertaking associated administrative duties.
- Maintenance of continuing professional development consistent with Royal College recommendations.
- Active contribution to the training of junior doctors and other multi-disciplinary team members in in-patient and outpatient departments.
- Providing support with waiting times across Greater Manchester and Cheshire in outpatient clinics.
- Delivering systemic therapy in Head and Neck tumours including non-melanoma skin tumours.
- Providing input to SACT Services, inpatient services (primarily Wards 11, 12, 4), and the Oncology Assessment Unit.
- Participation in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, team meetings, educational meetings, and audit.
Skills and Expertise
- Strong knowledge of Head and Neck, Thyroid, and non-melanoma skin cancer treatment.
- Experience in systemic therapy delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in clinical governance and research.
- Commitment to continuing professional development.
- Ability to train and supervise junior staff.
