Maths Teacher – Don Valley Academy

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Maths lessons at key stages 3 and 4.
  • Implement effective teaching strategies to improve student learning and achievement.
  • Develop and use assessment techniques to monitor student progress.
  • Stay up-to-date with curriculum developments in Maths.
  • Use technology to enhance student learning.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Share best practices within the department and wider school community.
  • Engage students through various activities (e.g., Sparx competitions, calculator quizzes).
  • Provide timely and effective feedback to students using the Demonstrate and Connect policy.

Skills and Expertise

  • Good degree in Maths or related discipline.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths up to GCSE level.
  • Experience in assessment at key stages 3 and 4.
  • Understanding of curriculum developments in Maths.
  • Proficiency in using teaching and learning strategies.
  • Understanding of assessment for learning.
  • Familiarity with computer packages for enhancing student learning.
  • Ability to use student data to raise standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to adopt new approaches.
  • Pleasant and sympathetic communication style.
  • Strong ICT skills (e.g., SMART board, Promethean).
