Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the development of an innovative and rigorous Maths & Computing curriculum tailored to national standards, promoting deep learning experiences.
- Proactively lead the development and implementation of academy-wide strategies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, focusing on pupil engagement and Maths improvement.
- Foster relationships and collaborate with colleagues across the trust to share best practices, resources, and professional learning opportunities, aligning with trust-wide goals.
- Take a leadership role in the professional growth and development of Maths and Computing staff, providing coaching and support to enhance instructional practices and pedagogical skills.
- Foster collaboration and coherence across subjects to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities, developing initiatives for interdisciplinary connections and subject-specific themes/projects.
- Set high expectations for student achievement, ensuring all learners receive necessary support and resources to succeed. Analyze data, implement targeted interventions for timely and effective student support across the department.
- Coordinate external examination entries and assessments within subjects, working closely with the Student Services Administrator and Data and Exams Officer to ensure smooth administration and compliance with regulations.
- Lead the development of an inclusive and diverse curriculum, providing students with the cultural capital necessary to succeed in Maths & Computing.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to create a positive learning environment consistent with the academy’s Behaviour Policy and Academy Development Plan, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for pupils, incorporating national curriculum requirements and school curriculum policies.
- Facilitate, support, and monitor the overall progress and development of all pupils.
- Foster a stimulating and creative learning environment and educational experience, conducive to good management of teaching and learning.
- Share in the development of the school curriculum, courses, study materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching, and assessment, reviewing them accordingly.
- Support and contribute to the school’s responsibility for safeguarding children and have high regard for health and safety.
- Direct and supervise the work of Teaching Assistants.
- Co-operate and liaise with other professionals, including fellow staff and colleagues from external agencies.
- Teach pupils according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work.
- Use a variety of delivery methods appropriate to students learning styles.
- Provide a positive, conductive, and safe learning environment, encouraging high standards in punctuality, presentation of work, and relationships.
- Support the school’s special needs policy on inclusion and assist in the identification and teaching of children with special needs.
- Set high expectations for pupils behaviour and maintain good discipline.
- Play a full part in the school and LAAT community, promoting its Christian ethos.
- Follow and actively promote the schools policies.
