Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and deliver a broad, balanced, relevant, differentiated, and inspiring curriculum for students.
  • Support the subject area as appropriate.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
  • Provide a motivating and structured learning experience for students to achieve their potential.
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment and supporting university applications.
  • Contribute to the Cultural Perspectives programme and wider school life, including extra-curricular activities.
  • Report to the Head of Maths & Physics and liaise with relevant staff, parents, governors, and other stakeholders.

Skills and Expertise

  • Good undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant Mathematics subject.
  • QTS (or equivalent relevant experience) or plans for Initial Teacher Education.
  • Successful experience teaching A Level Maths at Sixth Form level (teaching practice acceptable).
  • Understanding of effective teaching and learning theories and practices.
  • Understanding of how high-achieving students learn.
  • Understanding of high expectations for all students (behaviour and academic).
  • Understanding of inclusive provision and practices for all students, including SEND and EAL.
  • Knowledge and experience of writing lesson plans, developing resources, and assessing student work.
