Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and teaching high-quality lessons in mathematics.
  • Working to achieve success for all students in the classroom.
  • Undertaking any duties outlined in the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document and meeting the professional Standards for Practising Teachers.
  • Planning and preparing lessons based on departmental schemes of work and assessment materials.
  • Teaching students according to their educational needs, using appropriate key skills.
  • Ensuring positive behaviour management.
  • Setting homework in accordance with school and departmental policies.
  • Monitoring and assessing student performance to set targets for improvement.
  • Reporting to parents according to school policy.
  • Taking registers for each lesson.
  • Contributing to departmental meetings, discussions, and management systems.
  • Participating in whole school and departmental CPD strategies.
  • Participating in the Performance Management Review cycle.
  • Taking the register each morning session.
  • Providing support and guidance to students, monitoring performance.
  • Monitoring students attendance and conduct, liaising with Heads of Year, Heads of School, and Attendance Officer.
  • Liaising with parents regarding issues.
  • Completing student reports in accordance with school policy.
  • Undertaking any other duties as requested by the Headteacher.

Skills and Expertise

  • Enthusiastic and dedicated teaching experience.
  • Well-qualified mathematics teacher.
  • Passion for working with young people.
  • Experience teaching up to Key Stage 5 (desirable, but not essential).
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent lesson planning and delivery skills.
  • Understanding of assessment and reporting.
