Lunchtime Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children during lunchtime, supporting appropriate eating habits and social interaction.
- Ensure drinks are provided.
- Assist with clearing up spills, wiping tables, and helping children clean trays.
- Maintain a clean and tidy dining area.
- Supervise children on the playground/field areas when weather permits.
- Follow wet weather lunchtime procedures, including attending classrooms to supervise mixed groups.
- Remain with allocated groups until 1 p.m. to ensure continuous supervision.
- Report all incidents to class teachers; report serious incidents (verbal/physical aggression) to the Headteacher immediately.
- Handle minor injuries using first-aid supplies; consult colleague with paediatric first aid training for significant injuries (bleeding, head injuries, etc.).
- Record all accidents in the accident book.
Skills and Expertise
- Experience supervising children
- Knowledge of school health and safety procedures
- Familiarity with fire safety procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a calm and supportive environment
- Ability to resolve minor conflicts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-solving skills
