Liaison Psychiatry Practitioner

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake biopsychosocial assessments for service users with mental health needs.
  • Work with service users presenting with emotional problems, self-harm or in psychiatric crisis.
  • Work with service users presenting with psychosomatic disorders and psychological issues related to physical disorders.
  • Make autonomous decisions based on complex presenting problems, with access to clinical support and supervision.
  • Promote carer/family involvement in care planning.
  • Liaise with colleagues from other areas of health and social care to coordinate and facilitate safe discharge plans.
  • Offer formal and informal training to peers and acute trust colleagues to enhance patient care.
  • Share views and ideas to improve service delivery.

Skills and Expertise

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker
  • Good clinical skills
  • Motivated to further develop knowledge and practice
  • Person-centred approach to service user treatment and recovery
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines
