Lead Nurse Assessor – Lung Cancer Screening Service
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the establishment and delivery of the Lung Cancer Screening Service.
- Facilitating and overseeing patient flow through the screening program.
- Supporting required onward referrals based on screening review and MDT recommendations.
- Developing infrastructure, policies, and procedures for the service.
- Leading the service from a nursing perspective, adhering to national protocols.
- Overseeing patient flow through the screening program.
- Supporting patients and managing nursing staff.
- Leading interaction between primary and secondary care.
- Providing clinical nursing oversight of all patients in the screening service.
- Managing hub processes for reporting findings and referrals.
- Ensuring timely management of referrals with serious incidental findings.
- Managing screening hub processes, including ensuring patient information availability.
- Prioritizing and escalating patient care based on clinical team information.
- Ensuring patient pathways comply with Trust policies and Government waiting time targets.
- Providing practical, emotional, and psychological support to patients and families.
- Providing practical help through effective communication regarding CT scan findings.
- Supporting the effective delivery of the new lung screening service.
- Leading a team of lung cancer screening nurses and providing direct line management.
- Managing the administrative team.
- Taking relevant history and clinical assessment to develop management plans.
- Overseeing contact of all patients within the screening program.
