Interim Lawyer Advocate – Children & Families
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high quality legal services
- Undertake advocacy for CMH and IRH hearings
- Represent Legal Services, the Council and external clients in meetings, inquiries, and working groups
- Contribute to the development and delivery of legal services
- Exhibit employee behaviours indicated in the Councils People Strategy
- Deal with sensitive issues with tact and confidentiality
- Provide innovative, creative advice to clients in a pressurised environment
- Highly developed negotiating and listening skills with various groups of people
Skills and Expertise
- Qualified barrister, Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
- Membership of the relevant professional body
- Reasonable knowledge of English law and practice
- Experience of undertaking advocacy in court, including contested hearings and cross-examination of witnesses
- Experience of working in local government
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good research and problem-solving skills
- Good research and IT skills, including case management system use
- Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and client departments
