This is a rare opportunity to join at a senior officer position, working within an experienced & evolving team. We are looking for an applicant who possesses a strong working knowledge of the Homeless Legislation, preferably an applicant who has worked within a local authority Housing Options team previously or within a similar role and can demonstrate a transferrable skills set.
You will work within the Homeless Relief Team, part of the wider Housing Options service at Cheshire East Council, and provide day to day supervision and support to the Homeless Relief Officers in providing a quality comprehensive and pro-active housing advice and homelessness assessment service for all customers in order to prevent and relieve homelessness.
Within your role you will manage a caseload of complex homeless cases and you will need excellent interviewing, evidence gathering and decision making skills. You will need to be able to communicate with the public confidently both verbally and in writing.
You will be expected to represent Cheshire East at multi-agency meetings and have the ability to work with other agencies to find solutions to homelessness.
As an organisation we continue to develop ways in which to improve our services and you will support The Homeless Relief Team Leader on service improvement, investigating, developing and implementing new initiatives to enhance the Housing Options and Homelessness Service.
You will be responsible for robust recording of homeless prevention and relief cases for the purposes of data protection, audit, statistical analysis and government returns.

ABOUT YOU
You will have:
A solid understanding of the the Housing Act 1996 as amended by Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
The ability to evidence confident application of the legislation and the ability to defend legislative challenges
Experience of staff supervision
Experience of complex case management
Experience of delivering complex advice
Experience of gathering statistics and analytical data
An understanding of public sector work
Experience of working with people face to face and over the phone
Excellent computer literacy and IT skills
Excellent organisational skills
The flexibility to travel across Cheshire East where required
