Director of Governance, Compliance and Risk

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing expert advice and guidance on all governance matters, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinating and managing board meetings, preparing agendas and ensuring accurate minutes are recorded.
  • Leading the development and implementation of governance policies and procedures.
  • Building strong relationships with trustees, school leaders, and external stakeholders.
  • Organising and delivering training sessions for trustees and staff on governance best practices.
  • Ensuring the education of the Trust Executive Team on all relevant changes in guidance and legislation in relation to the risk and compliance within a MAT and ownership of the Risk Management Framework.
  • Supporting trust-wide accountability and quality assurance procedures to enable compliance in a range of areas including health and safety, recruitment and data protection (GDPR).

Skills and Expertise

  • Proven experience in a governance role, preferably within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to the trusts values and mission.
