FinOps Analyst
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the financial health of the cloud platform, covering invoicing, chargeback, and reporting.
- Supporting cloud finance platform operational stability and technology performance, including maintaining system utilities and tools.
- Learning new skills in a dynamic environment, collaborating closely with feature teams for continuous development.
- Providing input and supporting team activities to maintain platform integrity aligned with technical roadmaps and change demands from domains or centres of excellence.
- Supporting delivery of a robust cloud financial management service for relevant infrastructure platforms.
- Contributing to customer outcomes, innovation, and early learning by testing products and services for viability.
- Performing regular data analysis of cloud consumption to identify trends, usage spikes, and wastage removal for maximum ROI.
- Providing customised cloud reporting and dashboards for internal stakeholders to understand cost drivers of business lines, applications, or services.
- Contributing to cost optimisation opportunities (rightsizing, reservations, savings plans, wastage removal, and technology upgrades).
- Owning regular cost optimisation forums with key stakeholders to maximize business value.
- Contributing to the cloud budget model, reporting actual cost vs budget, and cost tagging compliance.
- Creating and tracking KPIs for Cloud FinOps effectiveness, identifying and implementing improvements.
Skills and Expertise
- Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to colleagues and management.
- Solid background in Agile or DevOps environments with continuous delivery and continuous integration.
- FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
- AWS, Azure, GCP, or other relevant cloud certifications.
- Experience with Cloudability, PowerBI, Tableau, or AWS QuickSight.
- Experience in an analytics role or with an analytics team.
- Experience managing on-premise data centre and private cloud (desired).
- Proven experience in cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Proficiency with AWS, Azure, and GCP cost management tools.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cloud services, pricing structures, and billing on public cloud.
- Experience with data analysis, financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, cloud cost optimisation techniques, and financial reporting in a large enterprise environment.
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
