Head of Legal, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
Key Responsibilities
- Providing legal advice and guidance on ESG activities.
- Leading and developing efficient ESG compliance approaches across franchises, functions, and jurisdictions.
- Supporting business strategy and shaping future direction.
- Managing a team of legal professionals on ESG-related matters.
- Managing the coordination and delivery of strategic legal advice across ESG legal risks.
- Building relationships with senior ESG stakeholders.
- Providing ESG legal subject matter expertise in managing ESG legal risk.
- Overseeing ESG-related disclosures and ensuring compliance.
- Identifying and implementing technology and data solutions for managing ESG legal risks.
- Representing the bank in external ESG policy debates.
Skills and Expertise
- Significant experience in law or related field, with experience in financial regulation, ESG, or related subjects.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of key UK, EU, and US ESG regulations (TCFD, CSRD, SFDR, NFRD, Modern Slavery Act).
- Experience as an in-house legal counsel.
- Team management, support, and coaching experience.
- Pragmatic, commercial, risk-based advice.
- Experience engaging in and influencing policy debates.
- Pro-active stakeholder engagement.
- Experience with data analysis and process enhancement.
