Journey Enterprises
Journey Enterprise’s Work Coaches support adults with learning disability in to paid work. Through skills development, training, volunteering and work experience placements we aim to enable Clients to achieve real work outcomes.
Our Working Journeys programme is tailored to the skills, interests and aspirations of the Client. Work Coaches develop partnerships with local employers and with Job Centres, to ensure Clients secure appropriate employment. The Working Journeys Team is also able to support Clients who may wish to explore enterprise initiatives as self-employment.
About Us
We have a small supportive Staff team of 32 joined regularly by our wonderful volunteers. Our Staff come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, bringing expertise in different areas to support and strengthen the work of Charity. The Charity has four sites and regularly provides opportunities for Staff to meet, train and experience delivery at other Hubs. We provide a generous terms and conditions package and opportunities for further professional development and career progression within the Charity.
Journey was founded by parent Carers in 1983 and celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2023. We were chosen by the House of Lords in 2021 as one of fifteen organisations nationally delivering best practice. We invest heavily in Staff training and development and terms and conditions of employment. The Charity holds Investors in People, Better Health at Work, Disability Confident Employer and Mindful Employer quality marks. Each year Staff have reached the National Learning Disability or Best of British Care Awards regional or national finals recognising their achievements in work as learning disability practitioners.
