Key Responsibilities
- Working as a key person and part of the pre-school team under the direction of the Principal/Deputy Principal/Head of Operations.
- Providing safe, high-quality education and care for young children, meeting individual needs.
- Abiding by the mission statement and ethos of Dolphins Pre-school.
- Assisting with curriculum planning, referring to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Keeping up-to-date with current Early Years thinking and best practice.
- Setting up and tidying for daily activities.
- Acting as a key person to a group of children, building relationships with parents/carers.
- Displaying enthusiasm and positivity to inspire and motivate children.
- Ensuring child safety and following child protection procedures.
- Nurturing children to participate in activities, develop new skills, and work collaboratively.
- Providing learning opportunities and helping children value learning.
- Encouraging children to explore resources and work at their own pace.
- Working in partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
- Advising the Principal/Deputy Principal/Head of Operations of any concerns (preserving confidentiality).
- Taking action to support the setting’s Ofsted Outstanding rating.
- Working effectively as part of the team, completing necessary duties.
- Following directions and guidance from supervisors.
- Supporting meal times within the setting.
- Participating in team, supervision, and appraisal meetings.
- Undertaking required training and personal development.
- Liaising with other professionals (other settings, childminders, outside agencies).
- Maintaining confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Adhering to all operational policies and procedures (health and safety, fire, dropping off/collection, food safety, cleanliness).
- Maintaining and updating learning journals (e.g., Tapestry).
- Promoting the setting to current and potential customers.
Skills and Expertise
- Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Experience in providing childcare.
- Excellent communication skills (with parents/carers).
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Safeguarding children.
Job Facilities/Benefits
- 11.44 – 12.44/hour (From 8.60 per hour for workers aged 18 – 20).
- Monday – Friday (term-time)
